A romantic saga of reincarnation, The Fool's Journey sweeps through the Caribbean, pirates, and the mystical temples of Tibet.

From the mysterious monasteries of Tibet to the sweeping vistas of the Caribbean and its pirates, two people find their destinies in each other. The first novel in the Infinity Series, The Fool's Journey is an epic historical set in 18th century England and the Caribbean and spans the lifetime of Lady Catherine Bramwell and the three men who love her.

Lady Catherine: framed for the murder of her husband of an arranged marriage.

Jean-Philippe: the mysterious former English officer who wins her heart.

James: the loyal friend who loves her in silence.

Artemus: the ex-pirate who wants to own her.

Review:

This is the tragic tale of the life of Lady Catherine and chronicles her tempestuous love life. While married to Lord Bramwell, her best friend’s husband dies at sea. Catherine travels to the Caribbean and there she meets Jean Philippe and begins a relationship with him. She feels she has made a mistake and returns to England to find her husband dying of cancer. Lord Bramwell doesn’t die of the illness he is murdered and she is blamed. She flees to the Caribbean and there, once again meets Jean Philippe. Now a widow, they are married. Although a fugitive from the law, she has several wonderful years before her fortunes once again tragically change.

While an interesting story, this isn’t a romance and I would like to have seen more of the romance between the two main characters. While there was lots of conflict, I would have liked more motivation for actions, concrete goals, rather than reaction. That said, if you’re not looking for a romance, but rather a historical novel with romantic and paranormal elements, this may be the book for you.
