ZANE TOLLISON’S wife is running through their cash faster than he can make it. A “Hail Mary” contract with Clearwater Tobacco arrives in the nick of time to keep his fledgling, consulting firm afloat and to unchain him once and for all from his narcissistic wife.

Beautiful, brilliant and estranged, KATHY DAVIS is desperate for a new beginning. The feisty post doc bio-geneticist jumps at an offer from Clearwater, pouring her soul into a development that will revolutionize the tobacco industry.

The two are unwittingly reeled into a convoluted plan to steal $12 million; Zane is changing into a carbon copy of Kathy, a pawn in a bizarre genetic metamorphosis, entangling Kathy in a sinewy web of seduction and deceit.  Forging a bond that will set the course of their destiny, they fight to overpower the diabolic hold that has taken over their lives.

Review. This is a unique plot, perhaps one of the most original romances I’ve ever read. It’s well written with good, natural dialogue and well drawn characters. The author has built in some interesting twists and strong tension and quite a lot of technical detail.

There were some aspects of the story however, that simply didn’t ‘do it for me’. One was the focus on smoking-the vehicle for delivering a key part of the story. Another was that at times I found the story confusing; Zane is turning into Kathy, Chorde is turning into Zane, Kathy and Zane/Kathy swap places and pretend to be each other etc. Do you see what I mean? I also found it hard to get emotionally involved with a hero who is wearing makeup and turning into a woman. That in itself isn’t necessarily the problem. What was harder was the manicuring, pedicuring and general beautification of our hero. A lot of pages went on these aspects of the story. Call me old fashioned but when I read a romance I want a real Alpha male.

My personal preferences aside, if you want an interesting story with a difference, where the main focus isn’t on the developing relationship of the lead couple but instead is on the suspense; if you want something imaginative with cleverly woven threads, with good sensual scenes that aren’t all out there ‘in your face’ then this is a book for you. Overall a pleasant and intriguing read

I found The Twist to be fun and engaging. True, it's not quite the true romance, but I loved that it was slightly different. The concept was imaginative and kept the pages turning!
